Story Deepdive
The Courtroom That Held Its Breath
In the cold, sterile courtroom, time seemed to stretch infinitely. Every face was a mask of tension, every breath a struggle against the oppressive silence. The San Salan family sat together, rigid with anticipation—united in one wish: to see Melek condemned. But not everyone shared that sentiment. Nu, Tassin, and Sumru sat further away, caught in the whirlwind of uncertainty, unsure whether justice would prevail—or something far more twisted.
The silence shattered with the sharp scrape of a chair. All eyes turned as Chihan stood, his eyes burning like ice, his voice slicing through the still air:
“It was Melek who shot me.”
The shock rippled like an earthquake. Sumru gasped, Nu clenched his jaw. The betrayal was not just unexpected—it was devastating.
Hikmet’s Vile Victory
No one celebrated quite like Hikmet. With a victorious snarl, she leapt up, screaming with venom:
“She’ll rot in prison where she belongs!”
Her words weren’t just cruel—they were personal, daggers aimed straight at Melek’s heart. Sumru, her face flushed with fury, fought back the urge to strike. But Hikmet wasn’t done. She declared with cold satisfaction that the San Salan family would show no mercy—not now, not ever.
The judge, clearly fed up, silenced her with a glare. But the courtroom tension escalated again when the doors flew open. Bunamin and Kanan entered, panting, too late to hear Chihan’s damning words. Their faces fell as they realized they had missed a turning point that could never be undone.
The Shockwaves Ripple
Samet, seated beside Hikmet, was already celebrating Melek’s fall. Meanwhile, Nu turned to Tassin, seething.
“You thought Chihan wouldn’t betray her? Look where your hope led us.”
Tassin could only whisper in pain:
“I thought… maybe there’d be mercy.”
Mannu, with a storm in his eyes, vowed that Melek wouldn’t stay behind bars for long. Tassin promised to do whatever it took to free her.
Across the room, Chihan met Melek’s eyes. The world around them fell silent as their stares locked. But Melek’s gaze held no surprise. She had known this betrayal was coming. The only one who hadn’t seen it was Chihan himself.
A Court on the Edge of Collapse
From the back, Esat threw a loaded taunt toward Nu:
“You’re next. Get ready.”
Nu lunged, but Tassin restrained him just in time. The judge pounded the gavel and warned that anyone disrupting proceedings would be expelled. The line between justice and vengeance had never felt thinner.
All noise ceased when the judge turned to Melek.
“Do you confirm or deny the accusation?”
Every soul in the room waited. Melek, chained but unbowed, raised her chin. Her voice was calm, unshaken:
“I will never admit to something I didn’t do.”
Even Chihan flinched at her poise. A faint, bitter smile tugged at his lips—because she was lying. Boldly, shamelessly, under oath. But still, she was Melek—unbreakable, untamed.
A Verdict, Not an End
The judge, after brief deliberation, delivered the temporary sentence:
Melek would remain in custody.
The click of the handcuffs was deafening. Melek didn’t cry, but her pain showed on every inch of her face. Nu and Sumru, overcome with emotion, could only watch as she was pulled away. Their world shattered piece by piece.
Before leaving, Melek turned back. Her eyes screamed silently—a plea to anyone who still believed in her. Chihan followed her out, convinced she was beyond redemption.
But outside, tensions boiled anew.
Words Like Knives
Hikmet, lips twisted in cruelty, leaned in toward Sumru and whispered:
“Go cry to your precious daughter. Her home is a prison now.”
Sumru nearly attacked her, but Tassin dragged her away before it exploded into violence. Hikmet shrieked after them, accusing them all of betrayal.
Esat, watching his mother crumble under the weight of her own hatred, finally had enough. He stormed out of the courthouse, disgusted by the entire circus.
Left behind, Hikmet whispered into her own emptiness:
“I trusted the wrong man.”
A Goodbye That Tore the Sky
Outside the courthouse, a heartbreaking scene unfolded. Melek, now cuffed, was escorted by the gendarmes. But then, something unexpected:
They allowed one final embrace.
Sumru clutched her daughter with all the desperation of a mother trying to shield her child from the cruelest fate. Through sobs, she promised:
“I’ll always be with you.”
Melek whispered, “Mammina…”—a word that shattered every barrier.
Esat, watching from afar, felt a bitter pang. That warmth—he had never known it. But there was no space for old wounds now. Only for a vow:
“We will get you out. No matter what it takes.”
Too soon, the goodbye ended. Melek was dragged away, but not broken. She turned once more, fire in her eyes:
“I’m not afraid of anything.”
The police car rolled away, taking with it Melek—and the last shred of certainty for those who loved her.
The Beginning of the Real War
But this wasn’t the end. It was merely the first act of a far more dangerous game. The courtroom had shown only a glimpse of what was to come. The truth, darker than anyone expected, was about to surface—and when it did, no one would be prepared.
The verdict may have been delivered… but the war for Melek’s soul has just begun.
