A little over a year ago, Mélanie Gonzalez, discovered in Familles grandes on TF1, gave birth to her ninth child: little Calypso. By her own admission, the mother struggled to reconnect with her body after giving birth. She then decided to take drastic measures to lose weight. After revealing that she had lost 10 kilos on social media, Mélanie Gonzalez answered a few questions from Purepeople to reveal her secrets. “I had still gained 20 kilos, it’s huge! I ate a lot, I wasn’t paying attention, and I weighed more than I had ever weighed in my entire life, even when pregnant,” she confided to explain her desire to lose weight. She explains that she ate a lot when she was pregnant with Calypso, after several unsuccessful pregnancies: “I absolutely wanted to realize the pregnancy by having a big belly.”

To lose weight, Mélanie Gonzalez decided to take drastic action: “I cut out sugar, for starters. Even for the kids, I felt I was buying too much junk. So I said, stop, everyone has to be careful too.” She also advises not to go back for seconds during meals and to drink plenty of water. To keep this momentum going, the mother has also “started exercising.” She says she takes boxing classes with her daughter and runs once a week. “Before, I didn’t run at all. When I started, I ran three kilometers. Then, I ran five. And now, I’m running seven.”

These ten kilos less are good for Mélanie Gonzalez. “I feel better, I’m getting my body back,” she confides. While she still wants to lose “a few kilos ,” she says she has “returned to the size I was before.” “And then I have heart problems. So, it’s also good for my heart,” she adds. “It’s good for my knees, as my knees used to hurt. In fact, I had pain all over. When I went up the stairs, I was out of breath.”
