“Have a good cry”: After remarks from Marlène Schaff, Victor (Star Academy) confides his discomfort to Ema

As he prepares to present his self-portrait on stage during the next Star Academy live show, Victor shared his doubts and fears with Ema during the live broadcast on Thursday, November 6, 2025, on TF1+. This gave his fellow contestant the opportunity to offer him some advice to help him overcome his fear.

The hours are ticking by and the deadline is fast approaching: this Friday, November 5, 2025, the remaining Star Academy contestants will reunite on the stage of Studio 217 for another live show. Which team—Blue (Ambre, Sarah, Léo, Mélissa, and Noah) or Pink (Anouk, Jeanne, Léane, Théo L., and Théo P.)—will be eliminated from this 13th season of the TF1 talent show? Viewers, who will be invited throughout the evening to vote to save their favorite contestant, will discover the individual performances live, including Léa’s song and dance routine and Victor’s self-portrait. The 24-year-old artist, who caused a sensation with his rendition of Hozier’s “Take Me to Church,” had some difficulties preparing for this challenge with Marlène Schaff, doubts he shared with Ema, as seen in the live broadcast on TF1+ this Thursday, November 6.

“I put a lot of pressure on myself for the self-portrait,” Victor explained to Ema in the Château kitchen. She didn’t hesitate to reassure her fellow contestant with some advice. “I think it would do you good to have a good cry. It’s crazy to say this, but you should experience this self-portrait as if you were having a good cry, as if you were letting go. For me, right now, you’re not letting go—even I’m not letting go—even though you have powerful things to say, things you’re holding back,” she recommended, having had to give her all during the last two live shows where she was nominated. During a session with Marlène Schaff, during which he performed Conchita Wurst’s “Rise Like a Phoenix,” Victor had shown a lack of confidence in himself. “I’m going to be super frank with you, you have a lot to offer artistically thanks to your voice […]. I’ve already told you about it: I don’t know what you’re afraid of, but I can feel it,” the stage expression teacher remarked to him.

Victor’s (Star Academy) fear of being “cringeful”
A remark that prompted Victor to open up, aware of not wanting to appear “too much” in the eyes of others. “It’s ingrained in me, this thing about being ‘cringe’ because I overdo it. I thought that by arriving at Star Academy, with a stage, I would feel legitimate to be completely myself, but I always have this thing telling me ‘calm down, it’s too much’,” he reacted, while assuring that he had never found Conchita Wurst’s performance at Eurovision in 2014 “cringe”.
